There are two sides of giving a gift–receiving and giving. This year, our team is focusing on giving in some creative ways. It is an incredible feeling when you pour your heart into something thoughtful you know someone you care about will love and cherish forever. The thoughtfulness behind a gift is worth more than a thousand words. It truly feels amazing to show the people you love how special they are, especially during a time when those around us might need some extra love!

6 Thoughtful Gift Giving Ideas

We have put together a thoughtful gift guide that would be perfect for the holidays and 100% COVID 19 safe. You can put everything together at home without putting yourself and others at risk.

HOME COOKED

Family in the Kitchen Enjoying a Meal - Trvl Porter

Surprise loved ones by making a special homemade meal from scratch. Start by thinking of a favorite family recipe that has been passed down from generations. Set up the table nicely with some personalized touches, such as flowers and candles. Break out the nice dinner and flatware that may be sentimental and bring together the people you care about. Everyone loves a delicious meal and great conversation. Trust us, your loved ones won’t forget a warm meal made with love.

Handmade

Handmade Gift for the Holidays - Trvl Porter

Our intern, Corinne, explained how her mother made home-made dominos from stones as gifts. She went to a quarry to hand pick stones to paint and then she personalized small bags with each of the sister’s names on them. This handmade gift was so special to the family and will always be cherished and enjoyed.

HOMESTREAMED

Watching a Movie in the Yard - Trvl Porter

This holiday season, you could make a video montage of all the wonderful vacations you have been on. Play them on the big screen or in a Zoom meeting with the whole gang! Nothing sparks wanderlust like old adventures. Plan a new vacation that you have dreamed about and make it a reality. To make the trip more personalized, try Trvl Porter’s rental clothing to enhance your traveling experience and have styled outfits waiting at your destination.

HANDWRITTEN

Handwritten Note - Trvl Porter

Make a box of handwritten letters describing you and your significant other’s favorite memories that you share with each other. Have them read them out loud so you can relive the best moments you have together. Sending letters has become very rare these days, so anyone who receives a heartfelt letter will definitely feel appreciated and loved. Let a smile spread across your cheeks and your friend or relative’s cheeks as well!

HANDPICKED

Local Business - Trvl Porter

Support local businesses and startups online to help out your community. A small purchase makes a huge impact on small businesses and will be especially helpful during these times when businesses are impacted from the pandemic. There will be shared joy in this gift–the receiver, who gets to enjoy something from a store they love and the business owner, who feels supported by their community.

If you’re not sure what type of gift to buy, our team member Siya recommends giving a gift card from a local boutique or restaurant. It is more thoughtful than handing out cash, especially since most people find it hard to accept. Local businesses will feel appreciative of the effort that went into the purchase of a gift card.

HELPING HAND

Helping Hands - Trvl Porter

Support local homeless shelters by donating food and toys so you can share the joy with people who genuinely need it. Our founder, Stefanie, loves to create care packages for the homeless and pass them out locally and to shelters. In a bag, you can include socks, microfiber cloths, granola bars, rain gear and toiletries. It is so difficult to spend the holiday seasons in poverty so as a community it would be wonderful to help everyone feel special and loved no matter their circumstances. No one is above anyone else. We join hand in hand as equals.
