We've been reflecting on our brand's journey and there is one highlight we love the most – our stylish travelers. Since the beginning, we have had tremendous support from some wonderful ladies. These women have a few things in common. Their passion for traveling the world in style and making a difference with their talents. We have loved styling their rental vacation outfits. As they continue to share their journey and style with us, we can’t help but draw some mega travel inspiration.

We want to use our platform to inspire future travel (post-COVID) and spark wanderlust in each one of you. This month we’re featuring journalist and host Kelley Ferro!

Traveler Spotlight: Kelley Ferro

Kelley Ferro LIVES to travel and has a massive global travel video library to prove it. She is constantly seeking local, authentic and best travel experiences! Wherever Kelley goes, she documents her adventures in hopes to inspire you to travel better, travel more & travel purposefully. In her profession career, Kelley has had the opportunity to host and produce shows for CNN, USA Today, GoPro, Expedia and Fodor’s and has also written for websites such as Esquire and magazines like Go Escape. Over the past few years she has tackled being a new traveling mom, which we so admire! Additionally, Kelley is also the chair of one of the largest travel industry groups, Travel Massive LA.

Our favorite Trvl Porter rental vacation outfit for Kelley was the beautiful red floral BB Dakota dress that she wore on a special trip to Sicily, Italy.

What was the travel destination that sparked your wanderlust?

I was born with wanderlust. From a very young age, I was traveling quite frequently with my family. We went near and far; driving to Cape Cod, flying to the Caribbean and occasionally trekking over to Europe. These were the most exciting times in my childhood and I remember each trip so vividly, even seeing tropical fish underwater on a trip to the Bahamas at age 3. However, our European trip was the biggest catalyst in my travel life. My first visit was to France, Paris then sailing along the southern coast. I was immediately hooked. I also took about 4 rolls of film, and then looked at every photo after I returned.

What is your travel style and where was your most stylish trip?

Many of the greatest adventures have been to film video series, so I’d have to be camera ready all the time. This might sound “glamorous” but getting up at 5am to make your hair look okay until 10pm wasn’t easy. I had to also wear an outfit that worked for the whole day, no matter what we were doing as there was rarely time to change. This has led to a different type of “style” that was comfy cute. And the key is having shoes that you can stand in for a long time. See you later heels! I usually went with black slip-ons or wedged boots, a day dress, with a leather jacket and a scarf, in case it got chilly at night.

That being said, when I am travel for myself, I tend to bring more of the bouncy dresses, pretty shoes and hats, and a dress for each activity. I’d say Sicily is one of the more stylish trips that I’ve taken, along with Colombia because I loved the vibrant, bright energy there.

What city (or combination of cities) do you think reflects your personal style?

I’d say I’m a mix of lively and fun. Rio de Janeiro beachwear and sleek and simple Amalfi Coast chic.

Where are your top three places to travel after the pandemic subsides?

My list keeps growing but after seeing my family on the East Coast, I’d love to jet off to the South of France, Kenya and I’m eager to check out the Philippines. I also never made it to Iceland and think that would be a fun stopover.

What are some of your best travel packing tips?

If I am checking a bag, I treat my carryon like an emergency bag. It always has my primary toiletries (think toothbrush, face wash and mascara) as well as pajamas, undergarments, a change of clothes and something warm. Also throw in a bathing suit. You never know if your airline might lose your luggage (and it has happened more often than you’d think!).
